Buy.com

Have you had problems with Buy.com? If so, tell the world about it here. You can do so anonymously, however if you ask a question an email address is necessary to get any responses. The only rule: no cursing.

Ordered a Sandisk Sansa refurb that showed up with erratic power problems. I wanted to return for refund, but they said that defective products can only be returned for identical product exchange, or I could pay a restocking fee (because *they* sent *me* a broken item). I chose to do the replacement, but a) I'm worried the next one will be broken too, and b) it's taking for freaking ever. Customer support has not been helpful either. I sent in a complaint with their web form, got a non-answer back (including the gem that they "offered a refund" when I called about the problem, nevermind that a non-complete refund is not really a refund) in an email that came from a no-reply address, so I cannot follow up for clarification.

I guess when you shop the bottom of the barrel, you can't expect the service to be anything but terrible. Buy.com is the Wal-Mart of the online shopping world.

Buy.com is the worst buying experience online. I purchased Pioneer 5.1 surround for Xbox on Dec 19th. I received an email that info was sent to the warehouse and few days later received another email that it was shipped with with FedEx tracking #. It should've arrived on Dec 28th. To my surprise, no package on the 28th. Called FedEx and was told no package with that tracking # that was sent or picked up from Buy.com. I then called Buy.com and was told (by the way 800# are operators in the Philippines)claim has to be filed which was apprv'd on Jan 4th. Same day I got another email that order # was sent to warehouse. Called today 1/10/08 and was told (I wasn't surprise) that it's out of stock.

Buying from Buy.com is just a waste of time. First and last time I will deal with this site. Spend a little more money from other websites because you'll probably receive your items. I more pissed off because I could've gotten the same thing at Amazon ($10 more) and received it within a week. I should've checked with the website first instead of the product! You live and learn I guess!

TIP: If you want to expedite the shipment of the product you bought.....just click on the cancel order button....then they ship it immediately.

Thank you for all the numbers you have listed for buy.com. Unfortunately, they all refer you to the 800-800-0800 number which takes you to India. I have been calling since January 2nd to return a camera and still have no answers. They keep sending me the standard emails and are not answering my questions. All I want is credit! They do not even have to send a refund. This guy,Bani, keeps stalling me every day since last week telling me he is checking into my situation.

My recommendation: DON'T EVER USE BUY.COM AND TELL YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY!

The 800-800-0800 did work after 30 min wait time and I did talk to a somebody without heavy indian accent.
lol Did solve any of my issues though!

FYI: An anonymous blog poster said "the correct number for customer service that actually took me to a live person in the US--it is 800-800-0800. Just follow the phone prompts." I have not tried to verify this. October 30, 2007.

Buy.com get an 'F' for customer service. This pertains to an order placed 02-06-07, almost a year ago. The item purchased was a Coolmax 500W powersupply that came with a $28 rebate. The rebate was mailed 3 days after receiving the item. Two months later, after checking online for rebate status, I discover that rebate was rejected for "Missing material, not using mailing label". What the hell does that mean? I fulfilled all my obligations. Coolmax won't even consider validating the submission; and repeated calls (almost once a month) to Buy.com customer service has yielded only a response of "customer service will forward complaint to rebate specialist". That must be the standard answer. They also promise that someone will contact me by phone or email. Not once did anyone contact me. I've been a very good customer of Buy.com over the years but their uncaring attitude has done it for me. Threats of posting negative comments and reporting them to the State Attorney General doesn't phase them. I'm also tired of being put on hold for 30 minutes to an hour each time.

On 12/3/07 I placed an order for a NEW Sansa Sandisk 1GB pink player with Buy.Com. The player did not arrive until 12/18/07. Once I opened the package the battery and carrying case were missing. I e-mailed Buy.Com requesting the missing armband carrying case for the player. They suggested I contact Sandisk. Sandisk emailed that my MP3 player was REFURBISHED and therefore they would NOT warranty it. I contacted Buy.com and all the Big Wigs and I still have not been made whole. Now I am trying to get an RMA to return the item.

Bought a computer from buy.com. Dispaly was back-ordered at first. Two weeks later, called the manufacturer..part was discontinued. After several calls to corporate, got email telleng me that they were sorry, but the part was no longer available, after I told them so! Then bought a good display from best buy and put what we had received together. Found they had not shipped original software packeging with Product Codes. Guess what, you can't use the email without it! Talked to Patel and all in India. How about a good old fashioned class action lawsuite?

Adding my experience to the pile: DOA item, SPECIFICALLY asked for a refund since the website doesn't let you choose it, they issue a UPS label and ONCE THEY GET IT tells me a new unit is being shipped. What about a different unit? Ever consider I might want to go another route even if refund is denied?

I posted this on techdeals.net - the only deal news type site that allows comments - I'd post to every one I can find.

YES class action, if it happens make sure the info is prominent and I'll support that. I'm calling them on the phone too - thanks for having this site..

My problem is with customer service. I tried to use the $10 discount for first-time customers using Google checkout. The condition was that the order had to be over $10. Well, when I put one $6 item in the cart, the Google checkout button worked fine. Adding ANY other item to the cart, even a similar item from the SAME seller (or direct from buy.com) made the button go gray (not work). I ended up not being able to get the discount. I've written buy.com CS FOUR times (so far) trying to find out why, and keep getting canned replies that don't answer the question. One sent me to Google checkout FAQs, which then referred me BACK to buy.com! So far they have ignored my requests for a phone number, which is how I found this site (and thanks for the phone numbers - that's my next move!)

Maybe I should wait and see if I even RECEIVE the two items I ordered (with NO Google discount!)

Oh, it's hard to follow the blog rule of "no cussing!"

I purchased a ‘Memorex iFlip7” portable video player for iPod’ from buy.com. The description did not mention that it would only work on certain iPods. Immediately on receipt I determined it would not work on mine and contacted the manufacturer who confirmed my finding. Accordingly I tried to return it to Buy.com only to find they do not accept returns of electronics when the box has been opened. As they did not respond to two of my communications other than by an automatic acknowledgement, I returned it enclosing the manufacturer’s e-mail that it would not work with my iPod but they merely replaced it with the same model. I have not subsequently been able to contact them and I now can see why.

Anonymous said...

I have searched this site and was unable to find a statement to the effect that electronic items cannot be returned for credit or refund if the box was open, regardless of whether the item fulfilled buy.com description. Surely this fact should be prominently displayed. It would seem to me that buy.com should be the subject of a class action suit. As a victim I would be happy to participate.

I wish I would have read these statements before placing an order on buy.com...I ordered a refurbished Garmin streetpilot 2610 and a garmin motorcycle mount. The mount arrived with no problem. The GPS unit arrived 3 days later. The only problem was I didn't recieve a GPS...I was sent an refurbished iPod Nano...How can someone mistake two totally different items?

I ordered a creative zen from ca.buy.com. Worst online service ever. I will never order from then again. It has been weeks, and I have not received anything. It said the item would ship in 2 days. The customer service people have not responded to my e-mail, nor is there a number I can call. I am so upset, and surprised that they even function as a business, if one could even call it that. I dare not try to cancel my order, which would take days, and cause additional confusion. I just pray that it comes quick, I can't wait much longer. DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM! I have read literally hundreds of negative reviews on different sites saying the same thing~!

Purchased a $140.00 item, signed up for a Revolution Card for $50.00 off 1st order, used 5% off coupon code, and chose ground shipping. Item shipped the following day and tracking number was emailed. Tracked package next morning and says on truck for delivery and I'm thinking this is awesome service. Leave for work about 10:00am. Wifes home but asleep and FedEx usually doesn't do residential deliveries until late afternoon. Get home from work and track package again, shows delivered at 9:09am, left on porch. Nothing there when I left for work at 10:00am. Buy.com places a trace on package through carrier, 2 days later driver confirms that he did in fact leave package on porch and Buy.com denies my claim of non receipt. I live in a high foot traffic area and usually get a door tag from carriers. I feel the responsability is with Buy.com to insure package arrives safely by using the signature required option when shipping. The decision is taken out of the consumers hands so how can the consumer be responsible for the retailers neglect? Oh, the Revolution card statement came without the $50.00 off 1st order reflected. Customer service said the offer cannot be combined with any other coupon codes. Oops, full price and no product. Same item went on sale at Fry's a month later for $79.99. My new total cost for item, $220.00! I now have a note on my porch stating not to leave packages if nobody's home.

Never again! I ordered an mp3 play as a gift for my niece. I used my billing address and her shipping address in the order. I've done this a hundred times on other online orders with other companies. I got an email that said I needed to call my bank and add her address to my credit card account. Of course I was on hold forever with my bank, but that's another story... They didn't answer my email messages sent from their form, and there was no way of updating my order online. Only cancelling. I finally found Buy.com's phone number (as all are saying, it's not on the site) and called them. The guy said sorry about 50 times, but that he couldn't update any information on an order once it had been placed. I imagine, I'd wait forever for a refund, so I feel screwed.

NEW NUMBER FOR BUY.COM WHICH IS NOT POSTED ANYWHERE ON THEIR SITE

1-800-800-0800

AND IT ACTUALLY WORKED ONCE YOU LISTEN TO THE MENU'S AND SELECT THE RIGHT CHOICES.

The phone number 800-800-0800 worked for me.

Also, buy.com's support page email was bouncing today. The customer service reps I spoke to weren't really interested in getting this fixed.

800-800-0800 works fine, although they can't really help you much, but telling you the status of your return.

For each day, I'm trying to find a place to log my problem with buy.com.

I think we have pretty good experience with buy.com in the past, but return service was horrible after a wrong item was received. First of all, rather than sending you the correct item, you have to return the wrong item first. When an item is returned, it takes 5-7 business days to process (which is normal) the return after buy.com receives the item. However, it has been 14 business days, the status of the return is still says "RMA Issue."

I don't want a refund because the price is good after I received a $25 coupon from them. I don't know now if it's worth the wait.

May 26 2008 I am disgusted in a nutshell
DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THIS COMPANY I ordered a laptop on May21 have been given the same run around as previous posters. Though they do not have laptop they continue to advertize that they do a week after not having any in stock . Customer service is a joke "I'M SORRIES" To cancel takes 5 days

Anonymous said...

I have used buy.com many times in the past with no issue.

Now I have an order that is stuck and I had to cancel it, there was no other choice.

Given the frequency of posts on this board, it appears they have some internal problems in May/June 08?

I recommend that people wait a few weeks before ordering from buy.com (maybe wait until after July 4th?) but I think they are a good company in general with a good track record.

Unknown said...

Do not buy anything from this company. If you have a family member serving in Iraq or Afghanistan they will not be able to place an order successfully on Buy.com. I am working in Iraq supporting the troops and ordered a laptop to be shipped to my home address and the order was cancelled two times. I asked the representative, why would anyone be trying to use my credit card to purchase an item and have it shipped to my house, even though the IP address of my order online showed up as the UK. I have never had a company refuse an order simply because the iP address was not in the US. So if you have a family member try to buy something online and ship it to their home of record according to their credit card information, the order will be cancelled. I say boycott Buy.com. Also sent emails asking why it was cancelled and never received a response. The customer service number has changed to 1-800-800-0800.

I’ve been, or should I say was, a customer of Buy.com for years. They always had good products at good prices. They also delivered lightning fast. Once I placed an order with “7-9 day free shipping” and it arrived the day I ordered it- amazing.

Last week I placed my first time critical order, a camera for my mother’s birthday. It was listed as “in stock” with 1-2 days for shipping, and if it took the full 9 days in transit it would be here with a few days to spare. I placed the order.

I got an email from them saying that it was a “Marketplace” order, that Electronics Express would fulfill it, and that Electronics Express was “REQUIRED” (emphasis mine) to contact me within two days to confirm the order. They didn’t do this. Three days went by. I contacted Buy.com through their Customer Service page. They sent me a form letter saying it’s not their fault, contact Electronics Express- this is odd as I didn’t buy from Electronics Express, I bought from Buy.com, and EE was violating their terms, not mine. But OK, I sent an email to Electronics Express- no reply.

I contacted Buy.com again telling them I emailed Electronics Express and they didn’t reply. They sent me another form response saying it’s not their problem, try contacting Electronics Express. Fed up with this I went to the website and tried to cancel my order. It said, “can not (sic) cancel order.” That’s wrong, a contract not executed is by definition, in default (my brother’s a lawyer). So I sent them an email telling them I WAS canceling the order, and I was withdrawing my authorization to charge my card. I got an email back saying they can’t cancel the order. So I sent them another email saying that they didn’t understand, the order WAS canceled- it was canceled when I sent the first cancellation email. It’s not their option to order for me. I told them if they had a problem with it to give the name of one person to talk to and real contact information- phone number or email address. They didn’t have the guts or courtesy to reply. (They’re probably planning a “plausible deniability” defense). Three days later the order is still listed as, “Sent to warehouse.”

If they do end up shipping to me they’re going to end up with a charge back so fast their head will spin. It would be nice to find a business that treated customers they would want to be treated. They put a black ribbon on their website for the deceased Darin Fralick, which indicates some human feeling somewhere behind that screen, but they cower and hide from the customers that feed them and refuse to treat us the way they would want to be treated. That’s the way organized crime syndicates behave, not legitimate businesses.

949-389-2000 no longer takes you to doug peirce. it connects you to another number.
buy.com has received my last order.
I called their cell service, which in turn gave me another number to call. so i called the other number which then told me i need my 10 digit order number.. well.. i have a 9 digit number.
So i say that i cant find my order number. they then tell me to use my phone number. I enter my phone number and it says it cannot be found and they hang up.
so ive been trying to find phone numbers to speak to an american for the last two hours.

I ordered a refurbished TomTom ONE from Buy.com and got it within three days, no problem. Except the unit was defective, and I was getting ready to leave for a trip. I explained this to the manager I talked to, who said basically, "Sorry. We'll send you an RMA and a new unit in two weeks." I told him that wouldn't help me and asked if he'd at least comp me overnight shipping if I purchased a new unit. Although he said he was authorized to make exceptions to policy, obviously he didn't feel the need to do so in my case.
I have no idea if I'll ever see my $120.00 refund, but I'll definitely never do business here again!

The 800-800-0800 on June 30,2008 got me India with no help.
When I see this through I will post a comment. So far I'm disgusted with buy.com and Google Checkout through which I purchased a buy.com product.
I have lost faith in buy.com and am starting to lose faith in Google Checkout who I asked(through e-mail, no phone there) to intercede. I think the Google Checkout people are brain dead so far. I've been getting formulaic not helpful e-mails from Google Checkout.

I purchased an Xbox 360 from buy.com. The product was received defective - I clicked on their 'return' link and got a "special return" response - what this means is 'no refunds' - which isn't mentioned when you purchase the product - their return link directed me to call a 1-800 number to have to have the item 'repaired'. The 1-800 number operator wasn't buy.com, but a completely different company. They told me they have nothing to do with buy.com and they couldn't help me - that I would have to contact buy.com directly for support (try and find a 1-800 on their website for customer service/support - not!). I found a 1-800 number for buy.com on this site, contacted them and they tried to push me off back to the 1-800 number for the company that doesn't associate themselves with buy.com - they should change their name to buy.CON ! I demanded to speak with a supervisor after the customer support rep could do nothing but regurgitate their corporate "no refund on this item policy" and directing back t a phone number for someone who claims to not to be associated with buy.com - after speaking with a supervisor, I've been told that under my circumstances, they would waive their policy and refund my purchase price - I am still awaiting their email with the RMA to return this item - I don't know where this will lead, but am ready to contact my credit card company to contest the charges as fraudulent - selling defective merchandise and refusing to refund the purchase price for the defective merchandise - how can this company continue to exist with their total lack of commitment to customer service and disregard for consumer rights - this wasn't the first item I had ever purchased from buy.com - all other transactions went off without a hitch - but the quality of a company is determined when when things go wrong and how they respond - based on this experience, I've made my last purchase from buy.com and will never do business ith them again - BUY.COM BUYERS BEWARE !!!

Buy.com is a joke. I had been trying to find the Mets Stars & Stripes hat for my boyfriend's birthday, which is July 23rd. I ordered it on July 15th and paid extra for the 2 day shipping -- just to be safe. Well, come the 21st I was yet to receieve a confirmation e-mail saying it had shipped. I called to have someone tell me that the status
"sent to warehouse" in actuality means the item is out of stock. The funny part is the website clearly said the hat was in stock. Looks like my boyfriend isn't getting a present for his birthday until mid-August, maybe even September.

800-800-0800 works (just stay on the line to connect to a person in the U.S.) though they don't really seem to know much.. sigh. my next day delivery is on the day #3. should have just bought a new computer at best buy or someplace...would have had it 4 days ago.

I bought a USB graphics card from them yesterday through eBay and all went well, UNTIL I WENT TO PAY FOR THE ITEM. I clicked "pay now" and it went through the payment process and when it was done I got a friendly message saying "your item payment has been completed" then I received an email saying "we could not process your order" Paying 4 more times did the same thing. I tried from firefox, IE, and Safari on my mac on 2 different computers and still got the same messages. I couldn't find a phone number on their website, and they didn't reply to 3 emails! Thanks to your website, I called them and spoke to a customer service rep, and after explaining my story they said "we cannot handle your problem in our department, here is another number to call" Ofcourse the other number went straight to voicemail, and im sure they will never answer. I am about to say "screw you" and go to a different website and purchase my item, because I need it NOW and I tried to pay manually in paypal for it but when I do it says "This company requires that you pay directly through their web service and not a direct send money payment through paypal"

Quick and easy service....YEAH RIGHT. THEY NEED TO SEND EMAILS THAT SAY "Our service is terrible, please do not buy from us ever again!" That would be more accurate

Is there an law enforcement agent, be a state or federal, to take care of the internet piracy companies like buy.com and datavis.com. Where is the FBI to protect us from such companies. Illegal immigrants, and terrorists (if they really exit) are not the only problems plague our country. We need help to face the piracy of such companies that prey on us. They hide in dark alleys, since we can not suit them
On Jul 1; 2008 I place orders through buy.com. One of the items was Microsoft Office, Professional, with 2nd day delivery. Buy.com forward my request to Datavis.com. I received my item on Jul 22; 2008, Guess what, it was not the Professional version, it was the standard. Datavis.com charged me the price for the professional edition, and 2nd day delivery. After calling customer service, it was agreed to return the wrong item, to receive the right one, and the 2nd day delivery charge will dropped. The "standard" edition was returned. Only to discover that Datavis.com does not have the "professional" edition. To my disgusting, but not to my surprise, as dealing with pirates, Datavis.com refund my the money but after taking stocking charge and without refund the cost of shipping and handling.
You might wonder, where is buy.com in this story. Tried, as many of you did, to reach buy.com, but in vein. They are hiding behind the iron curtain of the world wide web, no body can reach them or communicate with them. I placed the order through them, they are the middle agent, and should act on my behalf.
BOYCOTT BUY.COM AND DATAVIS.COM.
To the law enforcement, help protect us from these pirates. Pono is only the only serious crime that internet users face. We need your help to crack down on such company that steal in the day light under your watch. There must be some regulation to protect us. Internet as a tool of trading is to stay. But some companies and other entities will abuse this wonderful resource.

Bought a Blu-Ray disk 2-disk special edition. They sent the 1-disk "standard" edition. Their emails could not be replied to and it took 15 minutes to figure out how to email them a complaint without having had an online account with them (I purchased w/o an account). The only way I could get their blasted phone number was through this site (much obliged). I can definitely confirm that the 1(800)-800-0800 number DOES work as of Aug. 1, 2008, and I DID talk with someone with an AMERICAN accent. After going through the usual, annoying phone menu, I got to the operator and got my RMA number. Now, I'll have to wait to see how the product replacement process goes.

1st off Doug Pierce is the name I was just given to talk to at the real Buy.com headquarters in California & not the India location that doesn't care about anything.

My problem was, the item I recieved 4 days after it was shipped, I just happened to notice on their website that the price dropped $5.
So I try to get them to simply give me a credit for the price difference & they say they won't price match it because of the special with the Free shipping & the Rebate on it. Even though this still had the same Rebate & Free shipping. On top of that they kept giving different excuses. Like for one the policy says you only have 3 days. Also they do Free shipping on almost everything so that cancels alot. Talk about false advertising.

Thanks so much for this post! My friend found it by searching the net for buy.com's customer support phone number which is STILL NOT listed anywhere on their site! And yes, I did get a guy with a thick accent. I mailed the item back to them on the 28th & I got "RMA Issued" almost immediately online but have been waiting since the 30th when they received my item. I emailed them & called them and could not believe how rude he was to me. Talking down to me like I don't know how to count "business days!" I said I'M NOT STUPID! You've had the item for at least 7 business days--8 if you include the day you received it--and I've not heard one word from you! He told me the same thing that you posted, that it takes them 7-10 business days to process your return, then another 7-10 to process the credit, and you should receive an email response from us 2-3 days after that. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?!?!? So I said "So you're telling me roughly 3 weeks before I get my refund" and he said no, so many business days, I said look add up the first 7-10 and the next 7-10 and the 2-3 and you've got roughly 3 weeks (DUH!) he argued with me. I told him to get out a calendar! He said I should have my refund after the 13th.

Then he asked was there anything else he could do for me. I said that I wanted to order the proper item but not until I got my refund and this order was completed.

Thank you for posting their phone number!!

And thanks again for the post. It was enlightening as well and humorous. Being a programmer, I thoroughly enjoyed your remarks.

I have used Buy.com many times with no problem but I have never tried to return anything before.
Got a refurbished XBOX-360 off of Buy.com had a 60 day warranty from date of purchase (not day you get it). XBOX FREEZES UP, has the red ring. I want to return it for repairs. Buy.com no longer does business with the company that sent it. Buy.com ALL from India, tell me the same thing, call Microsoft. WRONG. I called 949-389-2000 and left a message for Doug Pearce, nothing back from him. His extension or at least where they sent me was 2147. Also called the 800-800-0800 number, India….. They gave me a number to call just to get me off the phone. Number had nothing to do with Buy.com or Xbox. I ask them for the number to the company that sent me the Xbox and their address. They say I need to call Microsoft, I said I did and they do not handle buy.com warranty. Buy.com said I need to call the company that sent it to me. ROUND and round in circles we go. Over five (5) hours on the phone it Inda, I would like to speak with someone that speaks GOOD English.
Buy.com in my opinion does not stand by their products. KEEP all email receipts, all packaging, and wrappers, anything you get from them keep. I suggest you pay for anything from them with a credit card that has purchase protection. The problem is not resolved at this point and my warranty is running out.

Buy.com wants you to physically fax their corporate tax exempt form for tax free holidays.

Not only do I not own a fax machine, they suggest I go to an internet cafe and fax it at my own cost.

Haven't they the common sense to have an online form on hand? The customer service person verified that it was tax exempt weekend in my state, yet they want me to pay the tax and wait for a check in the mail?

Get with the 21st century and build it into your checkout system like all your competitors Buy.com!

I tried to order a printer thru buy.com. They said free shipping. The default was 2 day. They did not give total until transaction was complete. It says you may cancel order within 15 minutes. I cancelled in 5. They said order had already shipped. I checked with fed ex and it did not ship until next day. It is like they dont read emails they just give generic response. Expensive lesson learned. It wont happen again with them

Using the Argali White & Yellow program, the following contact info is listed for Buy.com:

BUYCOM INC
877-880-1030
949-389-2000
85 Enterprise, # 100
Aliso Viejo, CA 92656

I did this after using the 800-800-0800 phone number and getting someone in India who could barely speak English. So I called the 877-880-1030 number above. Unfortunately, it was 10 minutes after they had closed (5pm their time in California) but it didn't send me off to India so that's a good sign.

OK so I needed a part next day. the item was in stock, and I order it next day air. for the heck of it I send them an e-mail asking if it would ship to day for sure. I then received this from them.

"According to our website, item #202166258 indicated that it would take 1-2 business days from the date you placed your order before it would ship out. Currently, the item is still within that fulfillment time
frame. We are expecting your order to be shipped out on or around
09/01/08. Shipping confirmation and tracking information will be sent via e-mail once this item is shipped."

I then asked them to cancel the order as I will order it from someone else who can ship it out in time. I then get this reply from them:

"In most cases, we will reply to your email within 24 hours of receiving it. Sometimes we will need to do a little research in order for us to address your concern (for example: shipments, cancellation, returns). If
that is the case, it may take us two business days (excluding holidays and weekends) to reply."

so what the hell, one person tells me it wont ship for days and the other tells me its already to late. the funny things is once I asked to cancel, I checked the site 10 minutes after I did that and it mysteriously moved from pending to sent to shipping.

Thanks to your site, I got a phone number, I called the number and talked to a person, she said they electronically request from the vender the part they need, and electronically send cancel requests. so I asked if it will take 1-2 days to get the think shipped why would it take 4-5 days (that's how long she told me a cancel takes) to cancel it? Her reply was I don't know.

Bottom line is this: the first red flag from ordering from a company is make sure they have their phone number listed on the site, if they don't then you know something is sneaky about them.

I sent a request for them to reset my password so I could make an order. I got the message "a new password has been sent," but I'm not getting any email or anything from them. I try to set up a new account and it says no the email is already registered. So I call up and the guy says maybe I'm spelling it wrong and then, after 25min, could not take my order because he had no record of my email in their system. I think I'm better off going somewhere else, though. I guess he was acually able to help me by not taking my order. "I think thou art a doornob!"

worst experience with an online site in quite a while - order sat in a "sent to warehouse" status for over a week sent 5 emails to get an update on the estimate time for shipping and delivery with no response - finally cancelled the order online -then searched and found this blog with the phone number (which does work) and they told me that they may not be able to cancel as it is in process - told me to refuse shipment - the rep was scripted and SO NOT helpful - will NEVER order from them again!!!!!!!

NEVER AGAIN! I ordered 2 things on the phone. The CSR had to change my address because Buy.com's computers don't permit entering addresses such as 'Suite C'. Naturally American Express rejected it. To make a long story short, half of the shipment was missing. I spoke with people who barely speak English. The problem is they didn't understand me. I had to return it. A simple purchase turned into a month long ordeal. Never again!!!

Buy.com is a scam. Do not ever buy from them.

Made an online purchase on 9/19/08 after the items I ordered plainly showed on the Buy.Com website that they were "IN STOCK". After they extracted my money ($24.48), I received an email that the items were not in stock but I will be notified when they arrive. It is now 10/7/08 and they still are not in stock. I will never order anything else from this deceptive company.

My original post in August 2008:

Using the Argali White & Yellow program, the following contact info is listed for Buy.com:

BUYCOM INC
877-880-1030
949-389-2000
85 Enterprise, # 100
Aliso Viejo, CA 92656

I did this after using the 800-800-0800 phone number and getting someone in India who could barely speak English. So I called the 877-880-1030 number above. Unfortunately, it was 10 minutes after they had closed (5pm their time in California) but it didn't send me off to India so that's a good sign.

-------------------------------

My follow up October 2008:

Call the 877-880-1030 number. Listen to the menu and it will tell you to stay on the line for an operator. Do this. Just wait for an operator. Don't press any buttons to answer any questions, just simply wait for the operator. He or she will be AMERICAN. Tell him or her that you would like to speak to an AMERICAN customer service rep. He or she will connect you with one. It just worked for me.

Incidentally, I see a lot of buy.com bashing on here. I've probably ordered from them 30 times over the last year with no problems whatsoever. Not saying they don't have issues - what company doesn't - but I've not had any issues with them.

DO NOT BUY from BUY.COM...I ordered an iPod on 10/11/2008 and they quickly charged my card (the same day actually) and as of 11/20/2008 its still in "Sent to Warehouse" status. I called up their customer care (1-800-800-0800) and found out that Buy.com's vendor doesn't have the item I ordered. To rub it in, the customer support representative tried to give me a run around that they will hear from their vendor. The whole setup sounded phoney and I now have serious doubts over the authenticity and credibility of Buy.com. At the end of the experience (or lesson learnt), I canceled my order never to buy from Buy.com again

The 800-800-0800 phone number does get through to english-speaking customer service, yay! And they say they are going to help me.

Here's what's happened so far. On 10/7 I ordered a replacement charger for my cellphone from their website & it turns out that it comes from a "marketplace seller." Buy.com only accepts street addresses for ship-tos but the seller ships via USPS, so there was no way the product was gonna reach me. I emailed the seller as soon as I found out, on 10/8. The seller did not reply.

A few days later I submitted a help ticket at buy.com since I couldn't find a phone number for them on their site. Buy.com did not reply!

Tonight, 10/20 I found their phone number on YOUR website & called them. And they say they'll take care of it. Thank you for your help.

The toll free number works. But Buy.com doesn't work. And they don't care about the customers. I ordered an item on 10/22/08 and asked for 2 day shipping so that I can have the item by 10/24/08, when I head out of town. Buy.com shipped it UPS Ground instead, and the scheduled delivery is 10/27/08. I called them and asked them to either refund my money immediately and recall the package from UPS, which UPS expressly said the shipper can do. Or for Buy.com to overnight me the same item so that I can have it when I go out of town. Buy.com refused to do either thing. Instead, the rep and his manager said that I have to refuse the item and get UPS to ship it back to them for a refund. Or they will credit me the difference in shipping cost. Of course, neither does me any good given that I needed the item by tomorrow. At the very least, I wanted my refund immediately. I've been buying from Buy.com for a couple of years now, and this is the first screw up. But it's a major screw up, and Buy.com refused to fix it. So Buy.com lost a loyal customer today. I told that to the manager, and she didn't care. All I can say is DO NOT BUY FROM THE BUY.COM. They don't care about their customers.

I placed an order on Nov 13th 2008 and it is still "processing" according to the buy.com website today which is Dec 4th 2008 despite the fact that buy.com still continues to make the item available with shipping being typically 1-2 business days.

I sent an email asking why it had not shipped. They informed me it was backordered and that I could use the buy.com site to cancel the order. There appears to be no such option.

I ended up calling 800-800-0800 and spoke to someone who put in a "cancellation request" which may take up to 5 business days to take effect.

I hope they do not end up shipping me the item. I just ordered the same item from amazon.com. I do not want to have to deal with sending it back and getting a refund on my credit card.

I used to like buy.com, but not any more. buy.com really sucks now.

Do not purchase goods from buy.com.

Returning a damaged product turned into a bunch of unhelpful e-mails. I had a $30.00 coupon from Buy.com The place I purchased from credited it back to my credit card because of Buy.com STUPID policy instead of replacing it. When I finally got the the business to replace it and recharge my card Buy.com won't reissue me my $30.00 coupon without an order number. This is CRAP!!

Here's the Canadian phone number: 1-888-328-9266. I got it by calling the 949-389-2000 number and asking for it. Enjoy.

buy.com managed to make a simple purchase a nightmare.

I was also contacted by the illustrious Tasha Eastman to be reprimanded for giving her the proper telephone number for my credit card.

She decided to finally charge my credit card only once I had canceled the order.

Placed an order with Buy.com, Received an email stating that my order had been canceled as they were unable to verify billing/shipping information because they had contacted me via phone and email. I placed the order less then an hour ago. No phone calls - i checked the caller ID and voicemail - No inbound calls at all since I placed the order and no emails. Obviously order was discarded by an automated system and I was BLATANTLY LIED TO. No one has EVER bothered to contact me from Buy.com. Just one more examply of customers being Lied to by BUY.COM - I have been unable ot contact them by phone or email. 12 hours later - still no response. STAY AWAY STAY AWAY STAY AWAY - DO NOT USE BUY.COM.... ZERO customer support and outright lies...

BUY.COM refuses to support DANE-ELEC COMPACT FLASH card, warranty; 4GB card comes with a 10 yr. warranty. After a few uses flash card stopped functioning. Manufacture's warranty states retailer to provide replacement(s)during warranty period. Emails and a phone call with BUY.COM agents denying warranty replacement. Will attempt contacting Dane-Elec Manufacturer.

I purchased a motherboard from Buy.com 12/29/09 and found it sitting on my patio on 1/04/10. The motherboard was shipped in a plain brown wrapper with no padding of any kind. On the side it had a big hole in it and upon opening it I found the motherboard cracked. I e-mailed Buy.com and 24 hours later was told sorry there was nothing they could do and that I needed to call the manufacturer for a replacement. I called ASUS and was told it wasn't bought from them and that I neede dot contact Buy.com with any issues. Called Buy.com and was told once again sorry nothing we can do, but please come back. DO NOT BUY from these guys. They have horrible customer service and do not back up their products. if you buy from them and it arrives broken, all you can do is try to get your money back through your credit card company. Horrible service with a don't care attitude.
